Approach in Business

Business and strategy

A favourable season is arriving — meet it working, don't waste it.

Direct answer

Hexagram 19 in business means a favourable season is approaching: light growing, opportunity drawing near, conditions turning toward growth. Meet it working — expand, hire, build while the window is open. The caveat is seasonal: the eighth month comes, and the light that waxes will wane. Spring's advantage rewards the venture that doesn't defer it.

An established venture

Conditions are improving — demand warming, capital more available, doors opening that were shut. This is the season to approach actively: the expansion that was too risky in the downturn now has a tailwind, the partnership, the new market, the ambitious hire. Practise the Image's generosity as a leader: inexhaustible in teaching and boundless in care — develop your people patiently, carry their growth without keeping accounts. Line 5 gives the leadership discipline the good season needs: draw on capable people and let them act; the ego's urge to manage everything wins only temporary gains, while trusting the right people is the reserve that makes a venture great. And heed the eighth month without dread — build now, while the light grows, the reserves and relationships you'll want when conditions turn again.

Starting or launching

The window is opening in your favour — the venture is more visible, capital approaches more easily than it has, and momentum can be shared rather than manufactured alone (line 1's joint approach: good things arrive carried by forces beyond your own effort). Answer the approach: take the meetings, follow up the warm leads, come nearer to the market in earnest. Line 4's counsel is complete openness — approach partners, hires, and opportunities with no preconceptions and no protective distance, using everyone's real abilities including your own. The season's only failure is deferral: assuming the favourable conditions are permanent and letting the spring pass idle. Springs are for planting; found and launch while the light is growing.

Watch out for

The shadow is complacency inside the good season. Ease loosening discipline, success mistaken for permanence, alertness surrendered to optimism (line 3's comfortable approach — nothing furthers). Watch for the flattery of a rising market — believing the venture's current smoothness is your own achievement rather than the weather — and for ambition so tall it skips the steps. Ascending times ruin ventures in ways downturns cannot: the eighth month forgives everything except having done nothing while the light was growing.

Reflection

What move belongs in this favourable season, before conditions turn?

Where is the venture coasting on good weather instead of building with it?

What opportunity is approaching right now — and are we actually answering it?
