This strongly favours moving, and moving soon. The current is with you: things are opening, receptivity is high, and what you begin now is carried partly by forces beyond your own effort — good things approach jointly. So if you have been weighing whether to commit, the season answers yes, and adds urgency: this is a bright time to be used, not admired. The one discipline is to keep your feet while you ride the rise. Ascending times loosen people — they let hope sweep away the principles that got them here and mistake the good weather for their own achievement. Decide from clarity, seeing situations as they actually are rather than as the optimism paints them, and the favourable current becomes lasting good fortune rather than a brief lift.
Approach in Decision
Decisions and timing
The good time is rising — act now, don't defer it.
Use this interpretation when you are weighing whether to act, wait, leave, commit, or continue.
Hexagram 19 for a decision means act now, while the light is growing. Two strong lines enter from below, spring draws near, and opportunities arrive with a tailwind — supreme success. But the same Judgment names the deadline: the eighth month comes and the season turns. So the counsel is precise — use the rising time fully, without delay.
Waiting is the one clear error here. This hexagram's whole warning is against the squandered spring — deferring the move as though the season were permanent. The light is waxing, but it will wane on schedule, and the eighth month forgives everything except having done nothing while the tide rose. If you feel stuck, the block is rarely external now; more often it is the assumption that there's time, or a comfort that's quietly retired your effort (line 3). The way through is not more waiting but a positive, balanced attitude turned into action. If something genuinely needs to ripen, let it — but do not confuse ripening with idling. Springs are for planting, and this one is short.
The timing shadow is the loosening that rides on ease — discipline surrendered to comfort, modesty to success, alertness to optimism. Line 3 names it exactly: a comfortable approach where nothing furthers, influence enjoyed carelessly until the edge is gone. The line's mercy is that genuine regret at your own slackening dissolves the fault the moment you feel it and correct it. Watch too for hope so tall it skips steps. The eighth month is not a threat but a discipline — the reason the rising season must not be wasted.
The six lines as a timing map
Joint approach: act with the rising tide
The good time begins and carries you as part of it. Welcome the momentum, but keep the principles that got you here.
Joint approach, everything furthers: act in full alignment
In harmony with the moment and your guidance, every experience becomes usable. Hold your discipline and everything furthers.
Comfortable approach: don't coast, correct
Success has gone slack and nothing furthers. Feel honest regret at the slackening, tighten up, and the blame passes.
Complete approach: act wholeheartedly
Draw near with no preconceptions and no protective distance. Openness without remainder multiplies the strength available and is entirely without blame.
Wise approach: act by letting others act
The wisdom is knowing what not to do yourself. Trust capable people and the deeper current; restraint in strength brings good fortune.
Greathearted approach: act from generosity
Returning to the work out of sheer abundance — firm principles joined to unbounded warmth. Good fortune, no blame, both sides blessed.
Am I treating this good season as permanent, or spending it while it lasts?
Where has comfort quietly retired the effort that got me here?
What move belongs in this rising light, before the eighth month comes?
