Sound finances rest on an interior with nothing hidden from itself (line 1). Root out the secret reservations — the spending you don't log, the debt you don't total, the private hope that this month will somehow be different. Each concealment builds a wall between you and a clear decision. Trust the crane's law (line 2): what your money habits actually are communicates itself over time — real thrift compounds, hollow pretence unravels, whichever you present to the world. Keep your financial centre of gravity in yourself (line 3): a strategy strung entirely on tips, headlines, and other people's confidence lurches with every mood of the market. And beware the empty broadcast (line 6): the lifestyle claimed louder than the balance sheet backs — the crow rising while the bird stays grounded.
Inner Truth in Money
Money and finances
Money honesty starts inside — no hidden accounts, no avoided numbers.
Use this interpretation for finances, resources, spending, security, and material stewardship.
Hexagram 61 in money means truth at the centre of your finances: an open, honest reckoning held by firm principle. Financial decisions made from genuine self-honesty carry a strength that clever schemes never do. Its one requirement: an undivided interior — no hidden accounts, no numbers you quietly avoid, no secret reservation about what you can actually afford.
Under strain, division is the real danger — the gap between the money story you tell and the money truth you're living. Close it. Sit with the actual figures, however uncomfortable, and let the honest number do the talking; strength here is exactly as great as the reckoning is clean. When something real begins to recover — savings filling, debt shrinking — stay humble toward what made it possible (line 4): don't claim the win as genius the moment it arrives, or the decline resumes. Release lesser attachments cleanly, like the team horse leaving its mate to pull true — the status spend, the expensive habit, the loyalty to a plan the numbers no longer support. Truth this complete reaches even the most stubborn financial problem.
The shadow is division: the concealed account, the debt kept off your own books, the affluence performed at higher volume than the finances can afford. Watch for dependence dressed as strategy (line 3's outsourced centre) — letting every market voice swing your decisions. Watch for credit-seeking — the wealth displayed to impress, which converts security into pretence on contact. And watch the words outclimbing the life (line 6): promises and plans pitched far past any power to keep them. The whole hexagram is one instruction — make your money's inside and outside the same thing.
The six lines in money
Being prepared
Financial truth begins undivided: hunt out the hidden accounts, the untotalled debt, the avoided number. Commit to the honest reckoning; the strength scales with its cleanness.
The crane in the shade
What your money habits actually are communicates itself over time — real thrift is felt, hollow pretence heard as hollow. Tend the genuine practice.
Centre of gravity in others
A strategy strung on tips and headlines lurches with every market mood. Recover your own centre; decide from your plan, not the crowd's weather.
The moon nearly full
Finances recovering toward fullness: stay humble toward what made it possible, claim no genius, and release lesser financial ties cleanly. No blame.
Truth that links together
Undivided financial honesty becomes what holds everything together — the plan others can trust because it hides nothing. Correct yourself, and the accounts order around it.
Cockcrow to heaven
The lifestyle claimed louder than the balance backs — promises past any power to keep them. Let the spending return to honest size; persistence in the crow ends badly.
What number am I quietly avoiding — and what wall is that avoidance building?
Does my financial centre of gravity rest in my own plan, or in the market's mood?
Where have my spending and my claims outclimbed what my income actually backs?
