Increase in Money

Money and finances

Money's season of increase — build boldly, keep it flowing.

Direct answer

Hexagram 42 in money means increase: a season of financial blessing in full flow, where growth comes with a tailwind — income compounding, opportunities arriving. The Judgment is urgent because such times don't last: use the increase while it flows, and spend it on what deserves it. The same wind fills careless sails too.

Building and investing

Wind and thunder amplify each other: what lately cost everything now comes with help, and great crossings long deferred are open. Act on the season — start the venture, make the investment, cross the great water (the Judgment). Line 1 hands you a commission: help received obliges large undertakings, and there is even room for error now — mistakes made in sincere effort self-correct in a time of increase. Practise the image's algorithm: see a good money habit in someone, imitate it; find a fault in your own, root it out. But keep the heart steady amid the abundance (the spirit of I): maintain the discipline as though the lean season never ended — the tailwind rewards exactly that steadiness.

Under financial pressure

Even if you feel pressed, this hexagram says the current has turned toward you — your earning capacity is rising, and it favours undertaking something rather than only defending. Move on it. Enrichment may even come through the season's setbacks (line 3): the deal that fell through, the loss that redirects — met with sincerity and a centred head, adversity now carries instruction and joins the increase. The one law of the season is circulation: increase shared keeps flowing, increase hoarded stops. Pass some downward — toward a cause, toward people you can lift — as fast as it arrives from above. Money kept moving through open hands behaves differently from money clenched.

Watch out for

Increase spoils through the way it's held. Carelessness: assuming the good weather is permanent, letting discipline dissolve into it. Appetite: growth converted to greed, the blessing spent on the ego's expansion. And withholding: the increased who pass nothing on — forgetting that the whole season began with giving downward and ends the moment giving stops. Line 6 is the I Ching's starkest warning, aimed here: hoard the increase and the flow reverses — isolation first, then a blow from an unexpected quarter.

Reflection

What large financial step belongs in this favourable season, before it turns?

Whose good money habit could I simply imitate this month?

Is the increase flowing through me — or pooling and going stale?
